CHF Layout Challenge

This is the FIRST Cornish Heritage Farms Scrapbooking Layout Challenge! Very exciting and ground-breaking! Lesley Langdon created a fantastic layout sketch for us to use.

My Little Boy:

This actually was a fun page to create. My son is completely dedicated to his bunny. I seriously believe they'll be headed to college together. ;-)

The one fun element to this page are the split pencils. It was a huge mess, but I thought a good touch.

I will state this as a disclaimer... I am not a strong scrapbooker. BUT, I will learn and I know the wonderful ladies at CHF that are the rock stars in this area will help. In fact, I challenge anyone that says they can't scrap to head to the Cornish Heritage Farms Forum in the Scrap Chat area to read the tips, tricks and join the team for discussion on the biz. These ladies also have something planned for this Saturday (May 3rd), as it's National Scrapbooking Day.

CHF Challenge #5 - Chalks

Hi everyone! I'm slowly recovering from a wonderful week of Backgrounder challenges at Cornish Heritage Farms. I had a blast! And I was inspired by all the wonderful ideas added to the gallery.

It's Monday again and the CHF team has another challenge. This week our challenge surrounds the use of chalks. I would hazard a guess that any stamper that's been around a bit has a set of these hanging out in their supplies. I've recently added a set of Pebbles Pearlescent chalks to my collection and love them. The soft colors and easy applicator make it perfect for a number of techniques. They are currently on sale at CHF, in case you'd like to add them to your stash of supplies. ;-)

Hello:

I used VersaMark ink and dusted my images with multiple chalks. When I was finished with the card, I used a sponge and dusted the card with the silvery-white chalk so the whole project shimmers.

Thursday April 24th – Challenge #6 (BC06) – Masking

Masked Hello:

This is such a super simple card. It looks like I spent hours on it, though! I created a full-size mask with an oval cut out and stamped the two backgrounders. I added the Hello sentiment and then a vellum butterfly. Very fast.

This is a different view of the butterfly... looks like it's about ready to lift off, doesn't it?

Anyone having fun with the Backgrounder Blitz? It's been SO much fun so far!

Wednesday April 23rd– Challenge #5 (BC05) – Double Time – using two or more backgrounders

I think this challenge is really an easy one. The backgrounders are so versatile and easy to combine, depending on the style your trying to create.

Something Special:

This card actually uses THREE backgrounders! See how addictive it can be!!! To create the pocket, I held a large piece of transparency on the bottom, sewed it in place, then trimmed to be the correct size. This makes it easier to adhere, since transparencies have a tendency to slide around a bit.

I decided to channel Julia Stainton on this card! It reminds me a bit of her style!! LOL! I stamped the grid paper backgrounder on the transparency with white stazon. It is really a super fast card... and I LOVE fast cards!

CHF Challenge # 4 - Sketch

It's our weekly challenge at Cornish Heritage Farms... and this week, Lesley Langdon has created a sketch to get us thinking. We often have terrific storms in the St. Louis area... one evening we had a whopper! The kids and I watched as the storm raged through, only to reveal a wonderful rainbow and a sunset of fire. I caught both in film; the sunset was so vibrant that my picture actually did this justice.

A Moment in Time:

I decided to use Lesley's Photo Op stamp set (the Rummage Bin) to create my card. It's perfect for it! At first glance, the Photo Op stamp set looks to be central for scrappers... but it's been a huge inspiration for my cardmaking.

I opted to stick with the fiery colors of the sunset and the silhouettes of the trees. A simple card for a wonderful layout.

Hello:

I love using the Pearl Acrylic Paint Dabbers by Ranger in place of ink. I inked a portion of the Large Polka Dot backgrounder with the paint and stamped it on my cardstock. It acts as though I've embossed the image, but I've got that metallic look to it that I love. I highly recommend this technique.

By the way - did you see that wide grosgrain ribbon? It was my inspiration for my last two cards. Isn't it amazing?!?! I've been hoarding it. LOL! This card also uses Mona's sketch as a jumping point too. Don't you love a good challenge?

So, to highlight the first challenge for Mona's sketch, I created this card.

Framed Love:
My inspiration for this card was a wide grosgrain ribbon I'd been hoarding. Ironically enough, the ribbon didn't make it on this project. Funny how that happens sometimes. LOL! I did use it on my Sunday card, though. The brown cardstock is stitched to hold the pleats.
