Doodling Fool!

I've finally begun to play with the Doodle This / Doodle That stamp sets from the SU! Spring Mini catalogs and I have to say, I love them! I find them completely addicting!

The first card I made was actually one that I had cut and ready for weeks, but knew something was missing. I wanted to use the gorgeous Basic Grey - Blush papers and had punched away at the stack. The project was staring me in the face every time I sat at my work table. I finally started putting the cards together and felt I had a cohesive effect. Let me know what you think!

Supplies: Cardstock: SU Sage Shadow, Rose Red and Taken with Teal, Basic Grey Blush papers; Stamps: Weathered BG, French Script BG, All-Year-Cheer I, Doodle This; Ink: SU Sage Shadow, Close to Cocoa, Basic Black, Taken with Teal (to edge)

This next card is something I've been wanting to do (seen it in my head) for quite some time. Lately, I've really enjoyed doing different size cards (rather than all A2). This card will fit in a business sized envelope (9 1/4 x 4 1/4 approx.). I used the teal banner in the middle of the card to convey the message (in this case it's congratulations, but I also did a birthday card too). The watercoloring was fun with the doodle outlines and didn't require me to be precise. To highlight the doodles in the lower half, I used a rose red watercolored line and the White gel pen. I think the card is fun and really eye-catching. Any opinions on what I could have done differently?

Supplies: Cardstock: SU Regal Rose, Rose Red, Whisper White, Taken with Teal, Blush Blossom, Sahara Sand (base card); Stamps: Doodle This, All-Year-Cheer I; Ink: Black Stazon, Regal Rose; Accessories: White Gel pen, Square punches for photo corners, ribbon, dimensional for center flower (which was stamped on Blush Blossom paper and cut out).

This last item wasn't a card but a really fun door sign that my mom found in the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby. For $0.74, it was a steal. I painted it with Ivory paint on the back, covered with my much loved Basic Grey paper and stamped lettering. I add this to the doodling post, since I added a little of the doodling stamps to the corners for pop.

I thought the phrasing was hilarious! I'd originally thought to make these and tuck them into new parents presents at baby showers. But, this works even better to my way of thinking!

Supplies: Cardstock: Basic Grey Romani papers and stick on letters (from paper kit), SU Certainly Celery; Stamps: Doodle This, Whimsical Upper Alphabet; Ink: Black Stazon; Ribbons, door sign and vanilla craft paint

Thanks!

Change is good...

Just a quick post since I'm not feeling well this week...

I thought I'd change the template of my blog. Maybe it's my old eyes, but the black background was getting hard to read.

Thanks!

ATC Swap

I was recently invited to join an ATC (Artist Trading Card) swap, highlighting different techniques.

The first one I made is for Dry Embossing. I added technique "how-to" info on the back of each card.

Supplies: Cardstock - Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery; Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Taken with Teal, Cameo Coral; Accessories: Embossing brass template, stylus, Small Oval Punch; Stamps; Love It

This first ATC was my least favorite, once it was finished. I don't know why I didn't like it. I think if this had been a regular sized card, I would have added ribbon. Maybe I'll head back to the drawing board.

The next card is for the Faux Metal technique. I have to say this is my favorite technique. Heather asked me to join based on the same card I have in my gallery... what a wonderful honor (thanks Heather / Windy Scrapper)! This ATC is a copy of that card.

Supplies: Cardstock - Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Close to Cocoa, Watercolor paper; Ink: Black Stazon, Versamark, Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Close to Cocoa; Accessories: linen thread, heat gun, copper embossing powder, watercolor crayons, aquapainter; Stamps: Balmy Breezes

Another ATC is for the Rubber Cement Resist technique. I also used Paper Piecing with this card and loved the effect. I'm not a huge fan of Rubber Cement resist for a full background. But, it's a great style as the egg on the card! LOL!

Supplies: Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Cranberry Crisp, Old Olive, Confetti White; Ink: Black Stazon; Accessories: scissors, rubber cement, watercolor crayons, aquapainter, sponge, brayer, Stamps: Crosshatch BG and Best of Cluck

The next technique was Reverse Masking. I think the card turned out pretty well, all things said.

Supplies: Cardstock; Mellow Moss, Pale plum, Very Vanilla; Ink: Mellow Moss, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Black; Accessories: ribbon, scissors, copy paper, hobby knife, mat, sponge, post-it note; Stamps: Paisley BG, Aida Cloth BG, Flowers for a Friend.

My last ATC was similar to one we did in Stamp Camp. I loved the colors and the technique was the same - Direct to Stamp with Watercolor Crayons.

Supplies: Cardstock: Rose Red, Always Artichoke, Shimmery White, Vintage Violet; Ink: Rose Red, Black, Always Artichoke; Stamps: Heartfelt Thanks, Amazing to Zany, French Script BG; Acessories: color spritz tool, marker, watercolor crayons, water bottle / sprayer.

Ultimately, I hope everyone that receives my ATC's likes the cards. I had a blast doing this and really enjoyed trying new techniques. I know I'm going to love having all the techniques in a book for inspiration!

Thanks!
