CPS Sketch # 262 - My Favorite Things

Hello!  It's time for another CPS sketch project!  This week's sponsor is My Favorite Things... and yes, they are one of my all-time favorites!

Rainy Day Blues

Isn't this little girl just darling?  She's colored with copic markers (her little yellow rain slicker makes me smile).  Her umbrella is paper pieced with some fun chevron patterned paper.  I'd love an umbrella like that, wouldn't you?

Here's an close up view of the coloring:

CHF Release Blog Hop

Hello!

Welcome to Cornish Heritage Farms blog hop! Come join us as the Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team take you on a journey discovering all sorts of CHF goodness! If you didn’t start at the beginning of this hop, you might want to head on over to the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog so that you don’t miss out on anything.

This month we have 17 backgrounders, 3 ATC Sets, 2 individual Rummage Bin Stamps and 3 Rummage Bin Stamp sets being released.

"First 24 Special" - receive 15% off all orders that are placed within the first 24 hours of the release.

Be sure to leave a comment on everyone’s blog as you travel from blog to blog for your change to win some Cornish Heritage Farms blog candy. Three of our CHF Design Team members will be given away blog candy, but who they are is a secret! They will be giving away one new CHF stamp to a random person who leaves a comment on their blog!

So with all the business out of the way, are you ready for my projects?  Today, I opted to create two projects for our hop, highlighting the amazing and versatile Backgrounder!

Text Me

Seriously... how simple is that?  I love patterned paper.  Love might not be a strong enough emotion... addiction perhaps?  So, using a backgrounder is a perfect way to achieve a patterned paper effect.  You can stamp backgrounders in any color to coordinate with your project.  Pair with patterned paper or use alone.

Personally, I thought it was slightly ironic that I made a card that says "text me".  I wonder if my teenager even knows how to mail a card!  Hah!

Eat Cake

This is my FAVORITE of all my release projects, even though it's super simple.  And here's why... I've been hoarding the wood grain paper in my Splendid (by Authentique) paper pad.  It's so unique, with its golden hue and highlights of teal blue and pink.  It's just perfect.  So, when I was pulling all my supplies together for my release projects and realized I could make a piece of my own golden wood grain paper... instant happiness!!!!  Here's a side-by-side comparison for you:

The paper on the left is the original paper from Authentique.  The paper on the right is my version.  And while I'm confessing things to you, I honestly love my version more!  I stamped the Wood Grain backgrounder with Scattered Straw (a golden yellow) on Antique Gold Parchment paper.  Then, I added highlights of pink, yellow and blue to my paper.  I just LOVE it!

So... now that I have you all hyper about your own custom patterned paper (I know!!  I'm still bouncing!!), I'd like to send you on your way to the next stop in your hop:

Thanks for stopping by today!  If you shop tonight, I'd love to know what you bought.  Welcome back, CHF!

CPS Sketch # 261 - No Sponsor

Hello!  It's time for another CPS Sketch project.  This week I wasn't sponsored, so I pulled out some PTI images that were dying for some ink!

Happy Birthday

Yes - I'm creating more birthday cards.  I thought I'd get a jump on all the birthday cards I'll need for my work team.  Maybe, I'll actually get ahead of the curve this year... OK.  I doubt it.

And I'm back with more crocheting.  This time, I started with an oval shape.  The challenge was more in the pre-piercing than in crocheting the lace edge.  I thought it turned out well!

Lisa

Pretty Purse

I just had to create a non-card project for our peeks.  This is a relatively simple project, created from the Favor Bag die by Sizzix.  What's wonderful about the die is that the purse flap is a separate piece, which is perfect for stamping!  I inked my Large Polka Dot backgrounder with Lavender Fluid Chalk ink and stamped for a perfectly pretty purse (wow - alliteration!).

Here's a view of the side:

Wouldn't this make a great favor bag for a wedding shower?  You could match the bride's colors with your stamped elements.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Tomorrow's a big release!  Welcome back, CHF!

Thank You

This was always a favorite set of mine, called Ornamental Beauty, originally designed by the beautiful and talented Julia Stainton.  I'm excited to share this project with you today with a hint of shabby chic.  I reused some corrugated cardboard, roughed-up and painted for texture.  And there's a bit of shimmer to my big ornamental flower from the Glimmer Glaze.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back tomorrow with another new CHF project.

CHF Sneak Peek #1

Hello!  It seems very much like coming home today, as I write about a Cornish Heritage Farms upcoming release.  CHF was my first design team.  I was thrilled and excited... and more than a touch nervous about creating for them.  I stayed with CHF for years until the original owners closed their doors.

Today, the new Cornish Heritage Farms owners are prepping for the first rubber stamp release.  A few things to remember:

  • Don’t forget to check out all the Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team’s blogs for more sneak peeks everyday!

CPS Sketch # 260 - Sharp Crochet Hook

Hello!  It's time for another CPS Sketch project.  This week's sponsor is Sharp Crochet Hook.

Birthday Wishes

This was so much fun to do!  To get the lace edging on my main panel (the light blue rectangle only - the other is a bit of lace), I did the following:

  1. I determined my finished panel size and made my rectangle a bit smaller to accomodate my lace edging.
  2. I stamped the design on my rectangle with white chalk ink and allowed to dry.
  3. Next, I pre-pierced my cardstock near the edge with about 1/4 inch between hole.
  4. Using thin crochet thread (and following a simple pattern in the Crochet Edging Handbook), I crocheted on my cardstock.
  5. I carefully knotted the thread at the end and weaved in my ends.  Simple!

My main panel is removable from the front of my card "pocket"...

I think it adds a beautiful touch and was really quick to add to my project.  I can certainly see myself doing this again in the future!

Thanks for visiting,
Lisa

CPS Sketch # 259 - No Sponsor

Hello!  It's time for another CPS Sketch project.  There was no sponsor for the week, so I pulled out some of my favorite supplies and had some fun!

happy birthday

I love that there are dies that accompany this set, making this card come together quickly!  Love that!  To give my typewriter and paper some disressing, I used a ripped piece of cardstock rubbed in the Deep Lagoon ink to run on the edges of the die-cut images in random places.  I love the look.

Thanks for visiting,
Lise
