Scor-Pal and Fancy Pants Project

Hello!  It's Lisa with a fast project today.  I was so inspired by the beautiful Fancy Pants papers!

The Good Life Easel Card and Wall-hanging Note Holder Gift Set

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: The Good Life by Fancy Pants Designs, Paper Tape Sticker Sheet
Embellishments: Mingled Buttons by Fancy Pants Designs
Tools: Scor-Pal Scoring Board in Inches, Scor-Tool, Scor-Tape
Cardstock: Dark brown (one piece trimmed to 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" and one 4-1/4" square piece) and Solar White from DiscountCardstock.com
Other: Paper flowers by Prima Marketing, Maraschino twine by The Twinery, 1-1/4" circle punch by EK Success, white Behr paint with primer from Home Depot, Notebook cover (dollar store find), red ribbon by May Arts, Mod Podge glue adhesive

Creating personalized gifts for those we love is easy with the right tools and beautiful papers.

To create an easel card:

Begin with a 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" piece of cardstock.  Score in half with the Scor-Pal scoring board and Scor-Tool at 4-1/4" and again at 6-3/8".

Pre-fold along the score lines.

Add Scor-Tape to the end section of your pre-folded base as shown pictured above.

 

 



Align the 4-1/4" square cardstock square to the bottom edge of the pre-folded base to create the card.

Complete your card with additional patterned paper.  Be sure to add a decorative strip on the base of the card to provide a place for the easel to stand upright.

To complete the note holder:

Begin with a sturdy base for your wall-hanging.  In this example, I used the front page of a purchased notebook that had a die-cut edge.  You could use chipboard (purchased for the purpose, the back page of a spiral notebook or a piece of cardboard from a cereal box).

OPTIONAL: Paint your wall-hanging base.  I love to use small samples of Behr paint that has primer added to it.  You can purchase this at Home Depot in white (or you can ask to have it tinted to a preferred color using one of the provided chips).  It's incredibly economical and covers excellently.  Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

To embellish the wall-hanging, I created a rosette.  Trim a piece of patterned paper to 1" x 10-1/4".  Score at 1/4" intervals.

Accordion fold the strip, alternating the folds for a mountain / valley fold.

Adhere the end of your folded strip to the opposite end.  The folds will be continuous and match.

Flatten the folded structure to create the rosette.  Adhere punched circles of patterned paper (2 of them) to the front and back of the rosette to hold it together.  Embellish with a button and twine.

Embellish your wall-hanging with additional coordinating patterned papers and ribbon.  In this project, I did use Mod Podge to adhere and seal the papers to the front of my wall-hanging.  Adhere a small stack of self-sticking notes to the front with Scor-Tape.

Your project, made with many found or low cost items, will be a perfect gift without damaging your pocket book!

Scor-Pal and Core'dinations Project

Hello!  I have a project today using the wonderful papers by Core'dinations and my favorite Scor-Pal tools.

Snowflake Cube Ornament

Supplies:

Paper: Core'dinations Signature Series (Graphic 45) in Bon Voyage GX-3100-06 (cut in 8.5" x 11" piece), vellum
Tools: Scor-Pal Scoring board in Inches, Scor-Tool, Scor-Tape and Core'dinations Sand It Set (sanding block and dust cloth)
Other: Snowflake die by Sizzix, silk ribbons by May Arts, Maraschino twine by The Twinery, corner rounder (1/4") by Zutter, precision scissors, small bell

Template:

Begin with a 8.5" x 11" piece of Core'dinations cardstock.
Score to match the template above using a Scor-Pal Scoring Board in Inches and Scor-Tool.

1. Along the 8.5" side, score at 0.5", 3", 5.5" and 8".
2. Along the 11" side, score at 0.5", 3", 5.5", 8" and 10.5".
3. Add a score mark (the dotted red line) at 2.5" and 6", carefully skipping one section as pictured above.
4. Remove all the shaded sections with a precision scissors.
5. Round the corners of all the flaps with a 1.4" corner rounding tool.

When creating a box like this, I find it easier to put together if I round the corners of the smaller flaps.

Using a small punch or die, add design to each side of the box.  Add dimension to the box by sanding gently with the Sand It tool set.

Add Scor-Tape to the box flaps.  Gently fold the box along the score lines to determine the placement of the Scor-Tape.  Sand the box a bit for added dimension.

Flip to the "inside" of the box and add small squares of vellum behind the snowflakes, using Scor-Tape to adhere.  I also determined that I wanted my box to hang from the point, so I added a loop of ribbon to one corner, using Scor-Tape.  I also adhered a small bell to the bottom strung with twine.

Remove all the Scor-Tape strips and adhere to close the box.

Scor-Pal and Pink Paislee Project

Hello!  It's Lisa Silver with a project for you today.  I was so inspired by the beautiful Pink Paislee Portfolio Collection.  I thought the best way to showcase the paper was to create the perfect gift packaging... it's all about the paper!

Let's get started!

Supplies:
Tools: Scor-pal Scoring Board, Scor-Tool, Scor-Tape
Patterned Paper: Portfolio (Amazing and Unbelievable) Collection by Pink Paislee
Embellishments: Artisan Flowers and Artisan Chipboard Butterflies (Customize with Color) by Pink Paislee
Ink: Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks by Ranger
Other: buttons, black twine by The Twinery, precision scissors, hot glue gun


Template:

 

Start with a full piece of 12"x12" patterned paper.  Score with your Scor-pal according to the template pictured above.  Snip along the short score lines and remove the labeled sections.  Here's a view of the cardstock prepped like the template.

Add Scor-Tape along the bottom of the box and the side.  Remove the protective backing on the tape strips and adhere to create the box.  Pinch the sides of the top of the box to "gusset" the top.

You have several options to complete your gift box.  In my project, I opted to add a lovely Artisan Flower and Chipboard butterfly to the front with a bit of hot glue.  I used Tumbled Tile and Pumice Stone inks on the chipboard butterfly to match my box.  I also trimmed a piece of printed patterned paper (Unbelievable) that reads "Today & Tomorrow and Forever" and adhered to the bottom of the box front.  Wouldn't this be a perfect way to wrap a wedding gift?  This paper is truly lovely.  It's perfect in every way with it's faux washi tape and lovely patterns.

I also used buttons to create my closure.  The best way to accomplish this is to start with a long length of twine, threaded through the button and knotted in the back.  Add a large amount of hot glue to the back of the button and gently press to the flap (not so that it squidges out from around the edge of the button).  This will leave space behind the button around the edges so you can wrap the twine.  Repeat with the second button.  I opted to thread a bit of twine through the bottom button for a consistent look.  If you'd rather not use hot glue (and we know how much fun it is), you can opt to adhere a small magnet to close or to punch holes in both the flap and the box front and string with twine.
