Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 9

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challenge.  This week our challenge is all about our furry friends - anything using a cat or dog image.

Meow

Yep... this project is bright!  You might need to avert your eyes a bit.  Hah!  I picked Lime Rickey Basic Grey paper as my starting point.  Really, it was because I was determined to have an orange kitty.  My neighbor has a calico and he's the prettiest cat I've ever seen.  Of course, we love him as though he was our cat, so this was my motivation!

I used the cat and the skeins of yarn from the Split Layering Collage - Meow image for my focal image and pulled the sentiment from the other portion of the image.  It's a great way to use these images.  You don't have to use the entire thing for your projects, making them VERY versatile stamps to have in your collection.

A little detail you might not be able to see in the picture above is that I trimmed along the scallops of the patterned paper and layered along the bottom of the panel.  I gently bent the scallops upward for texture.

I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration:

CPS Sketch # 206 - No Sponsor

Hello!  I just realized I hadn't posted my CPS project for the week and thought I'd share tonight.

Ever So Much

This was a super fun card to create!  I really think that anything made with Girls' Paperie patterned paper is a quick design... it designs itself!

I also used a new die that I purchased at Cheery Lynn Designs called English Tea Party Doily.  Isn't it lovely?  I bought a couple of the dies and just love them.  And the pop of the white doily really fits the style of the Paper Girl paper, doesn't it?  All that is balanced with the darling sentiment from Paper Smooches... it's awesome having Kim Hughes illustrating images again!

Anyway, sorry I'm late with my CPS project.  I'd love it if you stop by for the current week's sketch and inspiration at the CPS blog.

Thanks!
Lisa

Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 8

ETA: I just realized that this project also fits with the Moxie Fab Stamping with Markers Challenge!  I just love that it works!!!

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challenge.  This week our challenge is stripes.

 Hi

I had a blast stamping this project.  I was inspired by the patterned paper, Modern Homemaker by October Afternoon.  The bold colors of yellow, red and green were my color choices for my image... the Rick Rack Background (I-689).  In fact, it reminded me of one of striped patterned papers in the pack.

I colored my Rick Rack Background with Copic markers.  Then, to give my striped background image a bit of Modern Homemaker flair, I used Memento markers to add some faux-stitching lines.  A simple sentiment and some seam binding finish the project.

Hello!  It's time for another CPS sketch project.  This week is the fourth anniversary celebration for the Card Positioning Systems blog.  It's amazing to be part of this team and work with Tami.  I just LOVE her sketches!

Sew What's New?

A little Homemaker paper, seam binding and stick pins make this sewing inspired card really fun and perfect for my sewing theme.

I hope you'll stop by the CPS blog for more inspiration from the current, past and NEW designers, as well as details on this week's prize.  The sponsor this week is DRG Publishers / CardMaker Magazine.

Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 7

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challenge.  This week, it's all about color!  We were tasked with making a card that is Black, White and Red.  It's a perfect theme for Valentine's Day, isn't it?

My Heart

This card is all about the image.  I used the Tattoo Heart (H-915) and stamped directly on my cardfront with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I stamped the Tattoo Heart two more times on a separate piece of cardstock.  I colored the images with Copic markers - on the second and third stamped images, I only had to color the central heart.  On the card base, I used a small sponge and carefully swirled Black Soot Distress ink lightly to give a shadow over the central heart.  I trimmed the hearts from the second and third images and popped up on the card base with 3M mounting tape.  You can see how the hearts are very dimensional - on an otherwise one-layer card... very unlike me!!!

I finished the card with dots of White Ice Liquid Pearls (love that stuff!!!) and some seam binding.

CPS Sketch # 204 - Ippity

Hello!  It's time for another CPS sketch project!  This week's sponsor is Banu Honnavara with Ippity!  If you haven't checked out the fun of Ippity, stop by Banu's blog Stamping with Passion for more details.

Sweet Thoughts

This set was just TOO sweet!  I stamped the bunny and the flowers, without worrying about masking the bunny.  I stamped the bunny again on a second piece of paper and trimmed carefully.  I colored everything with Copic markers.

Here's another view of the card to show the dimension.

I hope you'll stop by the CPS blog for more inspiration.

Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 6

Hello and happy Monday!  I'm really excited about today's challenge for the Outlines Rubber Stamps design team!

This week, we were challenged to make something metallic or with metallic paint.  Here's my project:

Snow:
This snowflake makes a great winter card, as well as Christmas themed projects.

Instead of using ink to stamp my Design 1 (E-172) snowflake, I opted to use the Silver Liquid Metal Acrylic paint.  I used a brush to paint in on my stamp surface and stamped directly on my cardstock.  It's important to note that you'll need a light hand when spreading paint on your image.  I've tried it both ways -- dipping your stamp into paint vs. spreading paint on your stamp with a brush -- and I think the paint brush gives the best results with less "clumping".  I created an entire background of snowflakes and after it dried, I sprayed the background with glimmer mist.  The paint resists the spray and gives a really shiny finish.  I let my paint dry naturally, but you may be able to use a heat gun to speed this up a bit.  Just keep your heat gun far enough away so you don't bubble the paint, instead of drying it.  Nothing like boiling your media to mess up your project!

You can see in this next picture a bit better view of all that glimmer!

One thing to keep in mind with using paint for your stamping medium is to be sure to clean your stamp as soon as you are finished.  If necessary, use a toothbrush (dedicated to stamping folks... not your hubby's - even though he might be a stinker today) to clean all the stamp's nooks and crannies.

I hope you'll stop by and visit the rest of the team for more inspiration:

p.s. I don't know about you but I'm ready for warmer weather... we're slated to have more snow this week.  The only kind of snowflake I like seeing is the kind I stamp!  Haha!

What an amazing contest that Papertrey Inc is sponsoring right now!  You can check out all the details --> HERE.  I thought I'd post my favorite PTI project from the year to join in the fun.  In fact, when I went looking for my favorite PTI project, I notice this card was posted on February 10, 2010... almost a year ago.  Sweet serendipity!

Thanks for Everything

I truly fell in love with this set.  It's simple lines make it perfect for the paper tole technique.  I was so happy with how this project completed... it will always be a favorite of mine.

CPS Sketch # 203 - Stampotique

Hello!  I have a fun project to share with you on the latest CPS Sketch.  This week's sponsor is Stampotique.  You can find them HERE!

Je t'aime

When I saw Tami's sketch, my first thought was how it would make a perfect pocket card!  What do you think?

So, that's exactly what I did.  I used the Tim Holtz File Folder edge die to give me the rounded side element.  And LOTS of patterned paper... I had fun with this lovely My Mind's Eye (Be Loved) design.

I hope you'll stop by the CPS blog for information on this week's sketch and more inspiration!  I think this sketch is one of my favorites... what about you?
