Scor-Pal Mini Card Box Tutorial

Hello!  It's Lisa with a tutorial for a quick gift!  I was inspired by Paula Goff's original project on the Scor-Pal site and thought I'd try my hand at it too.

Supplies:
Tools: Scor-Pal scoring board in inches, Scor-Tool, Scor-Envi, Scor-tape
Stamps: Spoon Me by Gina K Designs
Ink: Black Soot Distress ink by Ranger
Paper: Solar White by Neenah, Silver Ore Metallic and Black Onyx Metallic by DiscountCardstock.com, lightweight paper for envelopes (used computer printing paper)
Patterned Paper: Sunny Side by Pebbles
Other: 1-3/8" circle punch by EK Success, precision scissors, Lick and Stick envelope glue
Copic Markers: R32, R35, Y32, Y35, YG17, B29, BV08, 0, N1, N3, N5, 100

Cardstock Dimensions:

Box Base:   8" x 5-1/2"
Box Top:   3-1/8" x 5-5/8"
Envelopes:  5-3/4" square paper

So, let's begin!

Following the template below, score your box base at the noted marks using your Scor-Pal scoring board and Scor-Tool.

Fold along all the score lines and snip along the small center scores.

Cut the center sections into points as shown and add Scor-tape to close the sides.

You can set this aside once you've embellished as you desire.

Score the cardstock for the box top as show in the template below using your Scor-Pal scoring board and Scor-Tool.

Cut along the small score marks (on the ends only) to be able to close the top.  You do not need to cut to a point as we did with the box base.  Add Scor-tape to close.

I created four small cards (3" x 3") to go in my mini box.  Of course, if you create cards, you'd love to also have mini envelopes to accompany them, right?

Using your Scor-Envi, score as directed on the tool for the 3" x 3" envelope.  This begins with a 5-3/4" square piece of paper with scores at 4-1/4" and 7-3/4" along both sides.

Snip and remove the corners.  Use Scor-tape to close your envelope.

Complete your project with patterned paper, stamped images and fun colors.  I just love the retro feel to the images!

With Sympathy

I think creating sympathy cards can be so difficult. I always think the colors and design need to be simple, because it's more about the message than the design, don't you think? This card was a quick project and one that I'll keep in my stash for those times when I want to send a thoughtful message.

CPS Sketch # 214 - Tami Mayberry

Hello!  It's that time of the week again... time to share my CPS Sketch project.  This week, the talented and lovely Ms. Tami is the sponsor.

Gina K Technique Challenge

I was inspired by sweet Ms. Gina's recent blog post to find a technique on StampTV and create a project.  I had a few minutes today and thought I'd give it a shot... just before time runs out to submit!

I Love You

My first card uses the emboss resist technique.  The lace stamp is just gorgeous, isn't it?  I've had this stamp set for awhile and not used it yet... shame on me.  The soft colors of the Gossamer patterned paper were my guide for the main image.

I stamped the lace in Versamark and embossed in clear.  I sponged pink and lavender ink over the embossed areas to bring out the detail of the lace.  Such a wonderful technique!

And because I had a bit of extra time on my hands, I made another while I was at it...

Quilts

My second card had a bit more detail involved.  I paper pieced the quilt... every bit of it.  I thought I'd be cross-eyed before I was finished.  But, patience pays off and I really love the eclectic mix of colors for my patchwork quilt.  While the June Bug Basic Grey paper has been out for a while, it's just perfect for a homespun quilt.

I didn't completely adhere the whole quilt in place.  The ends are tipped up a bit and curled to mirror a real quilt.

I'm desperate for some warm Spring weather.  It's been so cold and rainy in St. Louis.  It's the kind of weather that has me wondering if we'll ever be warm.  Hah!

This quick card has bit of sunshine infused, don't you think?  The sunny faces of daffodils are the essence of Spring.  This is headed to a new friend as a thank you... I hope she likes it.

CPS Sketch # 148 - Gina K Designs

Oh yeah!!!  Today I'm posting my first design with CPS and I couldn't be more thrilled!  Gina K Designs sponsored us this week and I really had a ton of fun.

Cool Beans

"Cool Beans" is one of my mom's favorite sayings.  I had to incorporate it into the card for sure.  And the corrugated kraft cardstock really reminded me of those wraps you get on a yummy sugar-free vanilla soy latte at Starbucks.  I'm craving one now!

Football Fun

I couldn't resist sharing this with you. It's a design that I'd sent to Ms. Gina for the January projects she's posted on her Guest Designer site.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

I have to give my mom credit for the idea of a football shaped card. So clever of her, don't you think?!?!? To create the shape, I sketched with a scoring tool the amount I'd need to remove from one corner. I cut this out and used as a template to remove the same amount from the others. I used my son's football as guidance on the stitching and markings. The 'ah-ha' moment for me was using the mesh cuttlebug folder, since it makes the texture of the card match the real deal.

For the inside, I layered the card with a green field, scored the yard lines and used a white gel pen to add the "chalk" and numbers.

Here's a close up of the invite itself. I computer generated the Time, Place, etc. and stamped the other fun stuff on the card. One tidbit that you can see in this angle is the crystal effects on the mug to make it look like glass and the foam of the beer.

Good times!!! I'll post a few of my other creations in the coming days too.

Notes about the project: OK… isn’t this fun?!?!?! It’s more than what you’d probably do for a stack of invites, but SO much fun! I used my son’s football as a guide. And of course, there is a ton of artistic license in the design.

CPS # 44

Hello everyone! I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted. We had a crazy week leading up to Christmas... and I feel like I'm just now recovering! I did take a little time yesterday to stamp.

I'd seen this sketch ---> Click here to see the original sketch <--- on the CPS blog and it stuck in my mind when I went to create. I HAD to use it!

The stamps I used to make both of these cards are from Gina K's "Let It Snow" set.

The card base is Soft Sky with Dasher Basic Grey paper as the central matte. I used my Petite Scallop Circle and Classic circle Nestabilities to create the ring. It was SO easy. I lined them up on the magnetic placement mat, added the paper on top, and ran the sandwich through my Cuttlebug. It was perfect!

The main image was stamped and colored with Copic markers. I dotted three different grey markers and a tan marker to give the illusion that it's a stone house. I airbrushed the sky with a light blue. I need much more practice with this tool... I'm always so spotty or heavy-handed. I'll get there eventually.

Here's a close up of this first card. I added a bit of Ranger Liquid Pearls (White Opal) in dots to the scallops. The texture is so pretty in real life. A swatch of ribbon, a bar staple and some Water colored Dew Drops finished this card.

This next card was a quick Take 2 of the CPS Sketch... since I already had the paper cut and the matte circle from the ring cut above. I didn't see the reason to waste it. I'll save these for next year's holiday cards.

The difference in the main image is that I sponged ink for the sky and added Ranger Liquid Pearls to the roof and hill. Oh and I added a spiral clip to tie in the circular theme of the main image, the snowflake Basic Grey paper, and the Dew Drops.

Star Wishes

I'm on a roll with the Gina K "Make a Wish" set. It's SO much fun!

The card base is Taken with Teal. The fabulous side panel was made on Glossy White cardstock with Ranger Alcohol inks for a marble effect. It's one of my first attempts... so not perfect. You should see some of the mess I made! LOL! The silver ink was everywhere! LOL!!!!

I stamped the cake with Pitch black Adirondack ink and colored with Copic markers. I had the list handy... but can't find my post-it. I'll update this when I find it. I also used the Spica glitter pens that I purchased from Ellen's store to highlight the candle, stars and the icing. It's an amazing way to add sparkle without the mess... and I had to off-set the mess from the silver ink. Haha!!! A quick addition of the Star punch by SU and a few silver brads (to mirror the silver in the panel) and the card is complete.

Make a Wish

I love creating with beautiful and fun stamps. The Make a Wish set by Gina K is just such a set.

This turned out to be a super fast card. I bought these dimensional star stickers by Paperbilities (Star Sticker Accents) at Walmart - and immediately thought of the Make a Wish set. Perfect foil for the stars in the set, don't you think?

The card base is Bordering Blue stamped with the shooting stars. The white matte was run through the Cuttlebug with the small square embossing folder. The other layers are Taken with Teal and Brilliant Blue. A quick run of two-way glue and glitter added some sparkle to the bottom of the card. Super fast and fun!!!
