Outlines Rubber Stamps Challenge - Friendly Fliers

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challengeJoin the Design Team in our weekly challenges with a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate each week!  Please check out the details of how to play and win on the Outlines Blog

This week our challenge was to create a card with any image of something that flies... butterflies, birds, ladybugs... and Outlines has so many great options.  I hope you'll create along with us this week!

Framed Birds

I admit... I reach for my copic markers before other color media all the time.  I love the vibrant colors and the ease of blending.  However with this project, I decided to do a little something different.  I put down the Copic markers and didn't make a card. **gasp**

I stamped the Easter Birdies (I-1152) image with Coffee Archival ink (a waterproof ink that will stand up to painting) on hot pressed watercolor paper.  If you've never used a hot pressed watercolor paper, you're in for a treat.  The paper has a smoother texture than the more common cold pressed variety, but it's smooth texture is perfect for a stamped image.  You get a crisper image with ink as your foundation.  I used my Derwent watercolor pencils to paint my image.  My preferred technique when watercoloring is to hold the pencil and pull color from the tip of the pencil with a waterbrush.

When I'm satisfied with my painting, I like to go back in and flick a dark brown color over the image.  It looks great on the eggs - speckled with a darker color.  After it's all dry, I added Cream Pearl paint by Viva to the centers of each flower and framed simply in a black frame.

I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration.  And don't forget you can join in our fun!

Halloween Mini Book

Hello! I've been creating up a storm the last few weeks and thought I'd share a project with you that I created for DiscountCardstock.com.

Halloween Mini Book

I opted to create a quick mini book from supplies I had on hand.  It's a simple project.  I used cardboard I had on hand and die-cut with Nestabilities.  I used my Cricut to cut the wacky Jack-o-lantern face, adhering to the front of one of the circle covers.  I covered the entire front with Mod Podge and added a sprinkling of glitter.  It's so dazzling in person!

I kept the inside simple with Solar White pages, so I can embellish as desired when my photos are added.

I plan to add the kids' pictures after the holiday and use to show off the family!!!

Thanks for visiting,
lise

Outlines Rubber Stamps Challenge - Pretty in Pink

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challengeJoin the Design Team in our weekly challenges with a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate each week!  Please check out the details of how to play and win on the Outlines Blog

This week our challenge was to create a card with the color pink as our focus.  I hope you'll create along with us this week!

Indulge

Who doesn't deserve a girls' night out occasionally?  This card celebrates that with all it's bright pink glory!  I stamped the Split Layering Collage - Indulge (H-939) image with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed with clear powder.  I colored with copic markers and cut apart the pieces I wanted to use on my project.  Because diamonds are a girl's best friend, I added lots of bling.  Our lovely lady has Swarovski crystals on her shoes and Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner on all the polka dots.
I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration.  And don't forget you can join in our fun!

CPS Sketch # 240 - ClearSnap

Hello!  It's time for another CPS sketch.  This week's sponsor is ClearSnap!

Holly Jolly Christmas

OK... so it's a bit early to be thinking of holiday cards.  Or is it?  I'm never ready on time, so why not create in advance.  I'd love to be organized early so I can truly enjoy the season.

I just love the new Stephanie Barnard ColorBox dye inks by ClearSnap.  They are so luscious and perfect for use with clear stamps.  Just perfect.  And I've found that they hold up well to Copic markers.  I do heat set, but that's just a step I always have when stamping.

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challengeJoin the Design Team in our weekly challenges with a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate each week!  Please check out the details of how to play and win on the Outlines Blog

This week our challenge was to create a card for a Birthday Bash!  I hope you'll create along with us this week!

Happy Candle Day

I stamped the Candles Sq. Lg. (E-401) image with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed with clear powder - my favorite method of stamping when I'm coloring with Copic markers.  I pulled out some bright pink paper and loads of pink Copic markers and had a ball!  All the dots in the square border, as well as the polka dots on the candles were filled in with Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner.  The flames were covered with Glass Effect Gel.  Loads of shimmer and shine in this polka dotted image!!!
I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration.  And don't forget you can join in our fun!

Swimming for Katie Renz - Blog Hop + Fundraiser

Hello!  I'm so excited to be a part of today's designer hop for Katie.

From October 10-12 some of the best stampers are joining together to support and encourage our friend and fellow stamper, Katie Renz, who is currently battling inoperable gastric cancer. If you're not familiar with her, Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year. This young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight. A few tummy aches and then stage 4 gastric cancer. Her first post about it is here. The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post here.

This exclusive stamp used in my sample, designed by Becky Oehlers is available as a clear stamp, as well as a digis or a dig and SVG cut file. 100% of the profits go to Katie's fund to help her and her young family. Her husband Kevin and her three young children need our help and support. In addition to the Keep Swimming Octopus, Marianne Walker and True =D Doodle Designs both also donated digis that are for sale. Direct donations are also being accepted. Information central is HERE. This is a permanent page that will stay active at i {heart} papers with current information and the full 3 day blog hop listing, as well as the donation button.

I created a simple card with the darling octopus.  I love the idea of a pink octopus!  It's hard to see in the picture, but I used metallic paper and Smooch paints to give this princess lots of shine.

I hope you will join me in supporting Katie through a purchase or donation. The following is a list of everyone who has projects posted today. I hope you will be inspired by them and moved to purchase or donate.

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challengeJoin the Design Team in our weekly challenges with a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate each week!  Please check out the details of how to play and win on the Outlines Blog

This week our challenge was to create a card for Halloween.  Since we had so much fun last week with the Halloween images, we decided to repeat the fun!  I hope you'll create along with us this week!

Going Batty!

I just LOVE all the holiday images at Outlines!  The Chandelier (I-977) image was stamped with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed with clear powder.  I colored with copic markers and gave my finished project a few blasts with the airbrush for the eerie glow!  I added shimmer to the project with the Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner.  Simple and so spooky!

I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration.  And don't forget you can join in our fun!

I hope you'll create along with us this week!

Happy Haunting

Isn't this an amazing image?!?  It's completely impossible to pick a favorite Halloween image, but this one ranks up there.  I inked my Sparkle Happy Haunting (H 907) image with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed with clear powder.  I colored with Copic markers and gave the background a few blasts with my airbrush.  I love the yellow glow behind the letters.  I kept my coloring fairly simple, but you could easily go wild, coloring all the different spaces of the letters separate colors.

Of course, the Sparkle Happy Haunting image is made for added bling.  I put a few Swarovski crystals on the witches hat and filled the dots with Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner.  It's a shimmery delight!
I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration.  And don't forget you can join in our fun!

Easy Canvas Prints Review

Hello!  I was given the opportunity to review a canvas print from Easy Canvas Prints.  The process was SO amazingly easy.

The on-line process walks you through the creation of your canvas from a favorite photo and couldn't be simpler.
  1. Pick your canvas size
  2. Browse to find your photo on your computer and upload
  3. Determine your border options
  4. Select options (sepia, black/white, etc.)
I think the most challenging aspect of creating my canvas was picking a picture to use!

In the end, I decided to create a canvas from a photo from a vacation shot.  The BEST vacation we took was to Mexico and had an opportunity to visit the ruins at Tulum.  The beach at Tulum is one of the world's most beautiful, don't you think?  Here's the picture I used for my canvas.

And here's picture of my completed canvas, gracing my bedroom wall.

I selected a 0.75" depth and a wrapped image, which I think you can see in the image above.

I've purchased a canvas for someone in the past and it was my greatest fear that the resolution of the picture I was using would not be enough... that I'd end up with a fuzzy image and a ruined canvas... it is not even possible to have this happen with Easy Canvas Prints.  Their on-line interface tells you if you have a picture that will work in the size you select.  I just LOVE that!

The canvas was shipped quickly and was well protected.  It arrived in perfect condition and was beautifully made.
I will definitely purchase another canvas from Easy Canvas Prints.  It was a simple and wonderful process.  My next canvas will be a HUGE one of my family.  Now... I just need to get us all together for the perfect shot.
