Lizzie Anne Jolie Fleurs

I made a second card similar to the pink version I previously posted... because I love this set just that much. This was a card that I submitted for the All That Scraps DT call and thought I'd share with you today. The team has yet to be announced. I don't know if I'll have a chance in this one, but I have to say that it's just fine either way. I had a wonderful afternoon of stamping to show for it, so I'll share what I created for you now that the call is complete.

I am actually loving any combo with Creamy Caramel. I sense a rut! But to be honest, I like how it's a neutral addition to a card, without being overwhelming or overpowering. My mom inspired me with this color combo and I've loved it ever since! Thanks Mom!

The central image was stamped with my Adirondack pitch black ink and colored with copics. rather than reach for a designer paper, I stamped my own with this set and I love how it looks.

I've uploaded it to SCS as this card, in case you're interested in the recipe: {thank you}

CHF Submission

So, I've posted a couple of my creations below for the CHF design team call. I thought I'd capture another one here for you to see...

This card was one a ton of fun to create. Here are the directions to make:

Directions:
1. Cut card base (6”x4” finished size) and “wood base” matte (3-7/8” square).
2. Stamp Pumpkin Wheelbarrow on White cardstock. Color with markers in lighter tones. Layer dimension with colored pencils.
3. Create Faux Wood background panel by rubbing White Craft ink on cardstock in long strokes. Heat set or allow to dry. Rub next color over cardstock (Close to Cocoa) to create wood grain. Add distressed edges and color spritz for aged look.
4. Add brads to wood panel. Adhere to card base.
5. Using the Coluzzle, cut central image and matte with oval template.
6. Adhere Ruby Red matte to card base.
7. Tie ribbon around card and adhere central image with dimensional tape.
8. Stamp sentiment and punch out with key tag punch. Trim edges and adhere to pumpkin pie key tag matte. Add jump ring and tie to ribbon with gold cord. Secure sentiment to the card with dimensional tape.

Stunned...

I had another post ready to go today with a card I recently finished... and felt that I should share this link with you instead. Lisa Strahl is continuing her articles on Design Team submissions. I say "stunned" because Lisa is featuring another one of my cards. In addition, two of Dawn Lusk's cards are outlined... and are truly stunning!!!

The post is called Thinking Outside the Box.

The card that is posted was Spring Window:

Humbling

It's been an exciting stamping week for me. One of the most exciting aspects to being a part of CHF's team is the access to it's talented stampers. I have much to learn. These ladies are amazing. I'm still a bit in awe of the situation and the people.

In conjunction with this, Lisa Strahl, CHF's Design Team Coordinator, is posting articles on her blog that address many of the questions we all have about design and design concepts - the very questions we all ask of our work when we are not offered DT positions. I've been down the road of rejection several times and have tried not to take things personally. But, I'm human and it still hurts.

I am completely humbled by Lisa's article today about Designing Dreams. The title is the active link.

Not only do I apppreciate the analysis of what makes a project work... I value that Lisa took this approach with one of my submission cards. It's humbling and I'm honored.

Love Trio Flowers!

Happy July, everyone! Where has this year gone? I can't believe we've passed the halfway mark for the year. I have so many personal and professional goals still on my to-do list... I'd better get a move on!

On a lighter note, I thought I'd post a quick card for you today. I made this card a couple of weeks ago and didn't get a chance to post it.

It's the second card I've made and posted with Flower Trio as the central image. I really love this stamp. I purchased it from GinaK about a month ago. It's a simple image... perfect for a detailed coloring...

The card base is Bordering Blue with a layer of Sahara Sand. The designer paper is Cosmo Cricket's Dutch Girl, which I purchased from a local Archiver's store. I could do some serious damage in that place... I made it out of the store, but only because my son was begging me to leave. I took pity on the boy...

The central image was stamped in Stazon Black ink, colored in with dye markers, and highlighted with prismacolor pencils. A small dot of silver Stickles was added to the flower centers for a little glitter shine. The flowers were matted on Ruby Red, which is a perfect match to the Dutch Girl paper. A little white organdy ribbon, dimensionals tape, crystal effects and silver cord are a few of the additional details to round out the card.

Thanks for checking in with me...

Just for fun...

Last night, I finally did a little stamping... after I cleaned off my work table. It took me nearly 20 minutes to find the surface. I couldn't believe how messy it was... but all of that is for another day.

I stamped! In fact, I made a fairly quick card for a secret sis group I belong to from Splitcoaststampers (DDSS), which I'll have for you tomorrow. Then, I scrambled to complete a project to submit for a contest. I don't really think I have a chance in winning (not defeatist thinking), but I know what talent there is. I guess my way of thinking... try and have fun in the process. No harm... and I had a blast.

Lockhart Stamping Company is hosting a Recipe Card Contest, made with one or more of their stamps. Their criteria was pretty simple.

I had recently purchased two of Lockharts stamps from Ellen Hutson's online store. In fact, that's where I heard about the contest. Since I just HAD to have the strawberries stamp, I gave the contest a GO.

This is what I made:

The card base is Real Red (4" x 6"), layered with Always Artichoke. I typed up the recipe on the computer and printed it on Whisper White cardstock. To give the white layer a bit more interest, I used the Paisley Background stamp by SU with So Saffron, stamped off once... which really looks like fabric or aged parchment. I watercolored the Strawberries image with Watercolor crayons, with multiple layers of color for depth. The piercing was done with a template I also bought from Ellen Hutson, called Ornare. The one I purchased appears to be out of stock, but this will at least give you an idea what I used. The templates are so amazing. I can tell I'll be using it a lot. There are a few additional details to the recipe card, but the gist of it is here. It was really a lot of fun to make.

After all that... I went to Lockhart's website to see where to send it, and was instantly humbled... Debbie Olsen (stamper extraordinaire) had designed a sample for Lockhart. I know there's some stiff competition out there...

**sigh**
Good thing, it was all just for fun! ;-)
