Tami Mayberry Blast from the Past Blog Hop

Hello!

Today we are helping Tami Mayberry end her month long Blast from the Past with a customer blog hop. Tami is an illustrator for Gina K Designs; and, if you haven't been to her blog this month to see all of the featured ideas using her stamp sets, you'll want to be sure and stop by today. You could win FIVE of her stamp sets simply by leaving comments on her blast from the past posts. You can click here to find more details.

Here is a list of all of the blog hop participants.
Tami Mayberry
Emily Giovanni
Laura Williams
Tami Grandi
Debbie Seyer
Cindy Coutts
Vicki Dutcher
Sue VanDeVusse
Michelle Woerner
Jeanne Streiff
Lisa Silver -- You are here!!!

If you didn't come here from Jeanne Streiff's blog, you'll want to start back at the beginning with Tami's blog.  Each comment left on the participating blogs will also count as an entry into the random drawing for the 5 stamp sets being given away.
So with all the details out of the way, I'd love to share my project with you.

With Sympathy

I think creating sympathy cards can be so difficult. I always think the colors and design need to be simple, because it's more about the message than the design, don't you think? This card was a quick project and one that I'll keep in my stash for those times when I want to send a thoughtful message.

I'm the last blog in the chain.  However, if you have Tami's stamps and missed the deadline to sign up for the hop, you can still play along by leaving a link on her blog.

Thanks for visiting!

Lisa

CPS Sketch # 215 - Kraftin' Kimmie

Hello!  It's that time again... time to share my newest CPS Sketch project.  This week's sponsor is Kraftin' Kimmie!  Be sure to check out the CPS blog for more information and designer inspiration.

Outta This World

I had a blast with this project.  I used an older patterned paper (Cogsmo) by Cosmo Cricket... it is just perfect for little boys.  Anyone notice a lack of great guy papers?   Not that I'm complaining... I love all the girly-floral-vintage papers that are available.

Anyway, I used Cogsmo paper as my inspiration for little Andy the Astronaut image by Kraftin' Kimmie.  I embossed Andy and colored with Copics, right on patterned paper.  As a note, I did test copics on a small piece of the "white" patterned paper before doing the whole image.  Not all patterned papers work well with copics (blurring and spreading).  But, this worked perfectly!

lise

Get Well Chicken

Hello!  I created this card awhile ago and forgot to share with you.  It was a fun card that I created for a coworker that was out for medical leave.

Get Well Chicken

OK... isn't this image darling?  I had a BLAST coloring it!  It was wonderful coloring therapy... something about playing with markers helps me relax.  Maybe it's taking me back to simpler days where crayons ruled.

I tried something different with the shading, grass and sky area.  I carefully dotted my colors around the image, adding contrast with various non-standard colors (like the red and yellow).  I think this turned out OK for a first try at the technique.

Thanks for visiting,

Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 17

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challenge.  This week our challenge is to create a butterfly card.  This is SO easy to do with all the various butterfly images available at Outlines

Enjoy

I stamped the Butterfly Square Large (E-519) and embossed - twice.  It's one of my favorite daily techniques, because it provides a simple luster and elegance to an image without a lot of effort.  I colored with copic markers - to match my Dutch Mustard Soup patterned paper.  I may not have used the Blossom Soup paper this week, but it's hard to pass up gorgeous paper altogether...

I cut out the second butterfly and popped up on the first image.  I gently bent the butterfly's wings for dimension.

TIP: Be sure to color your base image similarly to your top (dimensional image).

Bronze pearl pen and Light Colorado Topaz crystals round out the design.  It's elegant and matches the colors perfectly of my paper.  Pure love!!!

I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration.

Happy Easter!

Hello!  I have a new Shady Tree Studio project to share with you today.  I'm designing again with the Backyard Springtime set... and was really inspired by my design team colleagues' use of this sweet, sweet bunny!

Happy Easter

I just had a ball with this card.  It's fun to color these sweet bunnies and give them each personality.  I added a bit of Polar White Flower Soft to their bunny tails and some pearl pen drops to frame them in shine!

I hope you have a blessed and wonderful Easter!

CPS Sketch # 214 - Tami Mayberry

Hello!  It's that time of the week again... time to share my CPS Sketch project.  This week, the talented and lovely Ms. Tami is the sponsor.

Blessed

I am truly blessed... blessed to be able to enjoy this craft and share with others, blessed with a wonderful family and blessed to be loved by Him.

I used a sentiment from Ms. Tami's Hopeful Hearts as the focal point of my card.  And the rose trim is a little bit of creative license to the sketch.

Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 16 - and a Celebration!!!

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challenge.  This week our challenge is to create a birthday card.

That's where the celebration comes in!  It's our Design Team Coordinator's birthday today!  Happy Birthday, Ms. Jenny!!!

Enjoy

I just can't put down the Blossom Soup patterned paper.  And that's OK... because I think it's a favorite of Jenny's too.  So, in celebration of Jenny's birthday, I've created a card that uses our favorite paper!
I stamped and embossed by image, the Split Layering Collage - Enjoy (H-1066).  I colored my image with copic markers and added the shimmer of Illuminate Smooch paint.  I also added Ice White Pearl pen drops into the image.  You can see all that shimmer in the close-up below.
I'd love it if you stopped by to visit the other designers for more inspiration... and be sure to leave a birthday message for Jenny Gropp!

Curio Flowers

Hello!  I have another Shady Tree Studios card to share with you again today.  I'm designing again with the Backyard Springtime set... this time with a different feel to the project fun.

Curio Flowers

This project was completely inspired by an older paper pack I had on hand.  In fact, when I saw the large flowers in Nancy's set, I instantly thought of what a great fit it would be with the Curio Basic Grey paper!

My Curio Flowers were colored with Copics to match the patterned paper.  I also used a marker spritz (something I had from years ago from Stampin' Up - sorry, I don't know if they still sell this item or not) to add a bit of distress to match the Curio paper.  I stamped an extra set of the flowers to pop up on the main panel for extra dimension too.  You can see that dimension in this picture.

Are you ever inspired by beautiful papers and images?

Thanks for visiting and letting me share!

CPS Sketch # 213 - My Favorite Things

Hello!  It's time for another CPS Sketch project!  This week's sponsor is My Favorite Things!  I'm a frequent flyer at MFT... between the darling images and the fantastic dies, I'm a gonner!  So, check out the CPS blog for more details and great inspiration.

What's Cooking?

I kept this one fairly simple... my little girl is whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookies.  Yum... chocolate chip cookies... Did I mention I've been on a diet and I'm only eating healthy?  And the only cookies I've been enjoying are the virtual kind?  Yeah... I'm so done with this.  Bring on the real deal!

Spring Duckies

Hello!  I have a new Shady Tree Studio card to share with you today.  This week's project uses the Backyard Springtime set.

Spring Duckies

I'm officially addicted to Jillibean Soup's new Blossom Soup patterned paper.  I am flying through the pad of paper at alarming speed!  And for me, that's saying a lot, since I'm a self-described hoarder of all things pretty.  I'm turning a new leaf this year and enjoying what I buy, so the Blossom Soup is getting a lot of use!

I paper-pieced part of my stamped and embossed image so tie the image to my patterned paper cardfront.  I would seriously love a pair of polka dotted red rain boots, wouldn't you?  They are too cute for words!!

Here you can see the detail of the main image and my paper-piecing.

Some twine and rolled roses round out my Spring card.

Thanks for letting me ramble at you today!  I hope you're having a wonderful, warm Spring day wherever you are.

Outlines Rubber Stamp Challenge # 14

Hello!!!  It's Monday and time for a new Outlines Rubber Stamp design team challenge.  This week our challenge is to create a card with Sparkle!  Are you ready for the fun?

Copper Jewel

This was a fun project to create!  I used some luscious Dutch Mustard Soup patterned paper by Jillibean Soup as my base.  The warm tones inspired the use of copper embossing powder for my Neptune Jewel image.

After I embossed the image, I covered the entire stamped image with Versamark Dazzle Frost ink and coated with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.  Once I coated a couple of times, I adhered my jewels into their respective locations with Crystal Lacquer.  And I didn't use just any jewels... I used Light Colorado Topaz Swarovski Crystals and they are amazing!  As a sidenote, it's not always easy to get gems into place... I always feel like I'm all thumbs.  I used the Picksey-Pick Ups tool from Outlines.  It was a cinch to drop them into place!

You can see that shine here!

To adhere the Neptune Jewel to the center of my die-cut, I opted to use a magnet.  The beauty of this is that the recipient of my card can remove the magnet and use on their fridge, their file cabinet... whatever!  Instead of having an unsightly magnet in the middle of the card, I put it under the white die-cut, so the card is pretty on it's own.

And isn't that magnet lovely?  It's a little gift!

Happy Easter Greetings

Hello!  I have another project using Eastertide, released earlier this month by Shady Tree Studio.

Happy Easter

This is a very simple card and one that would be perfect for mass production.  I used a small floral image from the set to repeatedly stamp to create my own patterned paper.  Isn't it wonderful?  The benefit of creating your own patterned paper is that it will be in just the right color to match your project... every time.

I finished the project with a simply stamped sentiment, ribbon and some roses.  Very simple and hopefully elegant.

Thanks for visiting and letting me share today!
